FREE CONVENTION WILL PROMOTE THE CONSERVATION OF THE LOMAS DE LIMA – RCR Peru

  • Participate in this event organized by Serpar to preserve the city’s ecosystems.

Lima, October 2, 2024.- Our nature matters to us! Next Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Sinchi Roca Zonal Club in Lima, the second convention on Forestry Practices with a Focus on the Conservation of the Lomas Ecosystem will be held, an event promoted by Serpar and the Lomas de Paraíso Ecotourism Circuit Association of Villa María del Triunfo. This activity is part of the Lima Verde Urban Arborization Program, which since April of this year has allowed the planting of more than 333 trees in the Lomas de Villa María del Triunfo.

The event, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., is aimed at professionals, volunteers and community members interested in environmental conservation. It will have the participation of experts from the Green Areas Management, who will address fundamental issues for the preservation of these fragile ecosystems.

Among the topics to be discussed are the unique characteristics of the lomas ecosystem, the impact of climate change, forest nursery and compost production, considerations for irrigation, zoning and landscape design, as well as planting criteria and phytosanitary practices, which include fertilization and pruning.

“Promoting the conservation of the hills of our city is important, not only from the ecological side, since taking care of these ecosystems also prevents the loss of flora and fauna species; but, because they also constitute a cultural heritage that is part of the identity of our city,” highlights Claudia Ruíz, general manager of Serpar.

The event will culminate with a guided visit to the Sinchi Roca Zonal Club nursery, where participants will be able to learn about the advances in the production of plants for the reforestation of the hills. In addition, a symbolic planting will be carried out, reaffirming the commitment of the institutions and attendees to the protection of hill ecosystems, essential for the biodiversity and environmental well-being of Metropolitan Lima.
