Free by train to the vaccination center | Inland

Not only the vaccine injection is free, also the train ticket to the vaccination center will be completely free of charge. Federal Minister of Mobility Georges Gilkinet (Ecolo) announced this. “I am pleased that the NMBS is doing its part to make the vaccination campaign a success.”

For many people – especially in cities – the vaccination centers may be within cycling distance, but most Belgians will have to take the car or public transport to get vaccinated.

To encourage the latter, NMBS offers – at the request of Minister Gilkinet – a free train ticket – return and both injections – from Sunday 21 March for those who have to travel to a vaccination center. The ticket is only valid on the day of vaccination and can be requested anywhere – online or at the station. Those who wish to use the ticket are asked to spontaneously show this to the train conductor together with the confirmation of appointment for the vaccination.

On the other hand, a journey with a De Lijn bus or tram is not always free: it depends from municipality to municipality. This is free of charge, for example in Ghent and Aalst.
