Free access to all Main-Post e-paper editions

Due to the wintry and sometimes chaotic road conditions on the night of Saturday, April 9th, there were massive problems with newspaper delivery. Many copies could only be delivered with a long delay or not at all.

That is why all ePaper editions of the Main-Post media group are now available free of charge under the following link: epaper.mainpost.de

For example, this is what it looked like at night on the Heuchelhofberg in Würzburg:

The heavy snowfall caused chaotic road conditions in the Würzburg area around midnight. Around midnight, the access roads to the printing center at Heuchelhof and the A3 motorway near Heidingsfeld were blocked because cars lying across the road blocked the road for hours. “Many of our drivers just couldn’t get through to the printing center to pick up the newspapers there,” says Alexander Brümmer, Head of Logistics at the Main-Post media group.

Unfortunately, subsequent deliveries are not possible

Despite the greatest effort, the delay in sales could not be made up for: “A third of the issue could not be delivered,” says Brümmer. Because of the large volume and the difficult differentiation, the newspapers cannot be delivered later. “We ask for your understanding,” says Alexander Brümmer.

“It was an extraordinary situation that I have never experienced before,” adds Johannes Sendelbach, Managing Director of Main-Zustellservice GmbH. Normally, the first delivery rounds begin around midnight, but in those hours there was no traffic around the Heuchelhof.

The Main-Post customer service center is currently only available to a limited extent

As a result, there were a great many inquiries from our readers on Saturday morning, and as a result, the telephone system at the Main-Post was overloaded. The connection 0931-6001 including all extensions and the customer service center is currently only available to a very limited extent. “We are in contact with both Telekom and the telephone system manufacturer to solve the problem,” says Florian Schneegold, deputy IT manager.

We apologize to all affected readers for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
