It has only been two days since Fredrik Händemark left SKA St. Petersburg in the Russian league, KHL.
But after lightning-fast negotiations, it is now in place. Händemark is again a Malmö player and has signed for the rest of the season.
– I am passionate about the club and the city has become my home. I have seen almost all the matches that the boys have played this season and the team looks better than in a very long time, he says on the club’s website.
Came to Malmö in 2015
Händemark, who has turned 28, came to Malmö Redhawks in December 2015. Then on loan from IK Pantern in the hockey allsvenskan.
He then worked his way up, to become one of the SHL’s absolute best players and signed in the spring of 2020 for the San José Sharks in the NHL. However, he left the NHL club already after one season, and signed for St. Petersburg in the KHL. There he had to leave after only 15 matches, on Wednesday.
It turns out now will be Malmö’s happiness, when Händemark returns.
The contract extends the season and he joins the squad already during the day.
