Frédéric Salles and Sophie Scantamburlo-Contreras: “With SCOP 3, we allow the reuse of professional equipment while reducing the carbon footprint of companies”

COMPANY WITH MISSION | How to give new life to professional equipment? Frédéric Salles and Sophie Scantamburlo-Contreras have decided to take up this challenge thanks to their SCOP3 application, launched this year. It is simple, effective and also makes it possible to respond to the climate emergency. Cross-interview of the two founders.

What is the principle of SCOP3?

Sophie Scantamburlo-Contreras: SCOP3 allows companies who want to part with their equipment to be put in touch with other economic players (companies and associations) wishing to equip themselves. Thus, we promote re-employment within companies by encouraging them to buy and sell second-hand. SCOP3 provides companies with a simple and concrete solution to reduce their carbon footprint and at the same time, we also allow associations to benefit from equipment donations.

SCOP3 wants to become the benchmark CSR platform to quantify the greenhouse gas (GHG) savings linked to the reuse of this equipment

How did this idea come about?

Frédéric Salles: Following the pandemic due to Covid, my former start-up decided to reduce its workspace area to integrate a teleworking policy. Conclusion: the company terminated the lease of 300 m2 of office space and found itself without a solution to separate the equipment. With the association of which I am a volunteer, we have recovered 50% of the equipment in the form of a donation in kind and issued a Cerfa tax to the company allowing it to tax 60% of the value of the donation. When presenting this project to business leaders, they told us of their interest in acquiring second-hand equipment, in order to overcome development delays, but above all in a desire to create a more responsible and friendly.

What are your short term goals?

S. S.-C. : The short-term objectives of SCOP3 are to involve as many economic players as possible, companies and associations, in the reuse of professional equipment. SCOP3 wants to become the benchmark CSR platform for quantifying greenhouse gas (GHG) savings linked to the reuse of this equipment.

What is the economic model?

F. S. : Our offers are simple:

  • For companies : a no-obligation subscription + a commission on equipment purchases;
  • For associations : free service as part of our social and solidarity policy.
