Frederic Bezian, French cartoonist, went through the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels, like other figures of Franco-Belgian comics before him. He is from the generation of Berthet, Foerster Where Philippe Francq. He published his first comic strip in the collective collection of the Atelier R (R as Claude Renard) The 9th Dream. His graduation project Ginette, Martine, Josianne… is taken up and published by Futuropolis editions. His next album, The Strange Night of Mr. Korb, was published the same year by Magic Strip. End of century follows from the same publisher. Since 1983 he also publishes in the comic book magazine (To be continued).
His trilogy Adam Sarlech (Associated Humanoids) exudes a romanticism that earned Bézian his reputation. It is also due to him, on a scenario of Lewis Trondheim and Sfar, the tenth episode of Donjon Monsters at Delcourt.
He shares with us his love of great filmmakers: the authors of expressionist silent films, but also Robert Wiene, Fritz Lang, Orson Welles… Eclectic influences but not so surprising as the author of Doctor Radar (Glénat), The Guardrails (Delcourt) or even don’t touch anything (Albin Michel) reveals us with panache and a marked taste for metaphor.
