His partner Jim Hutton took his photos. In one of the shots, one of his cats is standing next to him. Both are enjoying a sunny afternoon. Joyful photos that do not show a sick person. However, Freddie Mercury is already in pain. In November 1991 he issued a press release explaining that he was HIV positive. Rumors about his health had been circulating for a few years already. It was in 1986 that he was tested for HIV. The Queen singer has to stop his 1987 tour because he’s sick. For two years he had lived as a recluse in his home at Garden Lodge in Kensington, London.

I was in the garden photographing some of the flowers in full bloom and Freddie walked over to me. I aimed the lens: he wanted to take a step back so it wasn’t a close-up. Then he posed while I took four photos, and he managed to smile for each of them. ” An opportunity for Jim Hutton to confide the state of health of his friend. “He was so pale and attracted that he knew he wasn’t on his best day, but it didn’t matter; of all the photos I have of Freddie, these are the ones I like the most.”
