Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle has released new research findings and other news related to cancer and infectious diseases. Experts from the center will be presenting at the upcoming American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ASGCT) annual meeting on topics such as gene editing, cancer immunotherapy, and HIV cure research. Additionally, Fred Hutch is offering resources and expert lists for Bladder Cancer, Brain Cancer, and Skin Cancer during May’s awareness months.
Recent Fred Hutch cancer research includes a study on ovarian cancer risk in Black and white women with endometriosis and uterine leiomyomas, an immunotherapy study for advanced prostate cancer, a study on bladder cells’ natural anti-tumor processes and a new three-year fellowship to understand how body location influences cancer.
Infectious disease research at the center covers new ways to block dengue and Zika virus, and the long-term consequences of infectious diseases such as long COVID. The center also announced the expansion of its Acute Clinical Evaluation (ACE) clinic and programs to help patients navigate cancer treatment.
