The City of Ifs alerts residents about the fraudulent solicitation ongoing since early October 2020.
Several people have telephoned the municipal police of Ifs to report individuals passing through the city. They say they map the neighborhood. Then ask to enter the dwellings, which is obviously unnecessary for mapping.
Same operating mode
The operating mode is visibly the same every time. They present themselves from the town hall, but no canvassing is in progress. Moreover, “when someone from the town hall is likely to appear at the homes of the inhabitants, we drop them a mail in the letterbox”, we explain to the municipal police.
Another clue that suggests that this is fraudulent canvassing: individuals brandish a professional card but tell people that they “are not allowed to take the card to verify it because of the Covid”.
It is therefore best to call the municipal police to check the card.
Distrustful, the residents who were approached did not allow individuals to return home. They therefore left, adding that they would come back in 15 days.
