Dresden. Fraudsters tried on Tuesday morning to steal a four-digit sum from a 71-year-old from Dresden. A woman called the senior and pretended to be a Microsoft employee. She explained to the 71-year-old that strangers had gained access to his computer and that she could fix the problem.

At first the man believed her and allowed her to access his computer. So the caller got to various accounts of the 71-year-old. When she asked for confirmation of a payment of 3,000 euros from him, the man from Dresden realized that it was an attempt at fraud and ended the conversation.

Then he blocked the account access and checked his incoming and outgoing payments. He found that the perpetrators had already shopped for around 70 euros. The police are investigating. (SZ / csp)
