Fraudsters contact Erzgebirge via Whatsapp, e-mail and phone | Free press

With various scams, strangers tried to steal money from the Ore Mountains. The police warn against giving strangers information about the financial situation.

Once again on Tuesday, scammers in the Ore Mountains tried to take people out of their money with different scams.

For example, strangers had contacted a 38-year-old in Annaberg-Buchholz via Whatsapp. Via an unknown number, the fraudsters had pretended to be the son of the 38-year-old and described a financial emergency. They asked for several hundred euros. They also asked for information about the balance. When the woman refused these requests, the conversation broke off. There was no financial damage.

Telephone fraudsters have promised an 80-year-old in Schwarzenberg a profit of 80,000 euros. The unknown explained that the supposed profit can only be reimbursed after prepayment of fees in the four-digit range. A second call from what is believed to be the same gang of fraudsters was made by an alleged lawyer. The 80-year-old was not deterred and immediately alerted the police. In this case, too, there was no damage.

Strangers contacted an 80-year-old in Aue via e-mail and promised investments with high returns. The fraudsters tricked the elderly woman into filling out several pages on the Internet and buying shares on Amazon worth several hundred euros. When the senior wanted to make the transfer in a bank, employees made her aware of the fraud. (sane)
