Fraudsters are currently posing as police officers in Salzburg

On Wednesday alone there were six reports because alleged police officers called pensioners and asked for money because the “daughter” is said to have had a traffic accident.

The Salzburg police report several attempts using a “nephew trick”. Specifically, there were several calls in the city of Salzburg to older people on Wednesday. Six complaints were made. Alleged police officers called the seniors and informed them that the daughter was involved in a traffic accident and now needed money. In all six cases, the victims reacted correctly and ended the phone call immediately, according to the police report.
