Freiburg (ots)
District of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald
Municipality of Lenzkirch
On Friday afternoon, March 24th, 2023, around 12:00 p.m., a suspected fraudster rang the bell of a 93-year-old lady and claimed to be from a social welfare office.
He demanded 1,000 euros in cash because a billing error meant that the fees due for care could not have been debited. Since the elderly lady persistently refused in a level-headed reaction, the perpetrator left the location without any loot.
Witnesses who were approached in a similar way or who noticed the male perpetrator (who unfortunately could not be described in more detail) are asked to contact the Titisee-Neustadt police station on 07651 9336-0.
The police warn against perpetrators who try to obtain cash in a similar way under pretense of alleged billing errors or a legitimate interest. Billing errors are usually settled with the cash registers or at the bank. If, in exceptional cases, an amount has to be settled in cash, always let us show you the authorization and a photo ID or ask the person to come back later.
