“No banking transactions via messenger service!” That is the recommendation of the police. A 24-year-old from the city had to experience that the supposed conclusion of a loan via WhatsApp can go wrong. According to the police report, he came across the phone number of an alleged bank that was offering cheap loans on the Internet via social media. Contact was made via WhatsApp. In the course of the chat, the 24-year-old not only sent personal data, but also photos of his ID and bank card.
Communication eventually continued via email and the alleged bank sent a “loan agreement”. A supposed processing fee of 100 euros was due, which the 24-year-old paid. Then the man waited for his loan – in vain. The alleged bank did not transfer any money. The 24-year-old became suspicious and contacted the police. The scam was exposed. The man had been taken in by criminals. Now the police are investigating.
