Fraud – Pflzerin loses thousands of euros

Unfortunately, criminals are always successful with various rip-off scams via the chat network. This is the case again in the Palatinate: a 69-year-old from Landstuhl called the police and said that she had recently transferred several thousand euros to someone else’s account abroad. In a chat message, the person pretended to be a relative whom she urgently wanted to pay for his smartphone and laptop. That’s what you did, lady in good faith, especially since the “real” relative is actually in the Far East. Unfortunately, when she realized at the weekend that there was something wrong with the matter, all that money was gone. Hence the often-repeated request from the police: Never fall for the trap of strangers on the phone or in a Whatsapp chat, no matter how credible their stories are. If in doubt, ask questions or get in touch with the person who is allegedly asking for a lot of money.
