Elkjøp warns against a fake competition on a fake Elkjøp page.

(The online newspaper) On Friday, the electronics chain Elkjøp went out and warned that a fake Facebook account had been created in their name.
They write that the site is called “Elkjøp Norge”, and that there is also a competition that is an attempt at fraud. Elkjøp’s official account on Facebook is simply called “Elkjøp” for the sake of order.
Commented by tens of thousands
In the picture that is attached, you see a post where it says that you can win a vacuum cleaner to a value of 4999 kroner and that the competition is in connection with Elkjøp celebrating its birthday. All you have to do to participate is comment on Dyson in the comments section.
Furthermore, Elkjøp writes that the fake site is an attempt at fraud and that they warn everyone to participate or give away information.
“We are working to get the page and the competition removed from Facebook.”
Over 11,000 people have commented on the post, 3100 have liked it and 95 people have shared the post.
– We reported this page to Facebook as soon as we became aware of it. Apart from that, we unfortunately do not have more information as this page does not come from us, says communications consultant Sebina Stegavik in Elkjøp to Nettavisen.
Contact the bank and block the card!
Stegavik says that they have received several inquiries from their customers about the fake Facebook page.
– We were out early to inform about the fraud both on our Facebook page and on our website. We encourage everyone who has been so unlucky to register their card information in this competition to contact the bank and block their card, says Stegavik.
– The site is still up, but we are working hard to get it down, she said at half past two on Friday afternoon.
