Fraud attempts via messaging and SMS services fail

On Monday afternoon, a 54-year-old woman reported an attempted fraud via SMS at the Lindau police station. So say the police.

Unlike the previous acts through a well-known messaging service, the woman received an SMS with the same content. As a result, the alleged daughter would have a new mobile phone number and currently would not have access to her internet banking. The 54-year-old was asked to make two transfers. Since the woman was aware of the scam, she did not fall for the scam attempt.

A 65-year-old woman had previously complained and said she received a message via a messenger service saying her daughter also had a new number and two wire transfers needed to be made. The 65-year-old called her daughter with the number she knew. It turned out that she hadn’t sent a message and she didn’t even have a new phone number. Done everything right, the police finally praised in their press release.
