Fraud Alert: Your friend will make a video call and you will be robbed! AI became the enemy, new technology of fraud has arrived

WhatsApp Scam-fraud Calls from International Numbers: As the facilities provided by smartphones are increasing, the problems are also increasing. Due to the availability of smartphones in the hands of a large number of people and the increase in online payment facilities, cases of cyber fraud are also increasing rapidly. Sometimes fraudsters have been looting people by spreading their net through OTP and sometimes through fraud links, but let us tell you that a new technology has now come into the market of cyber fraud and it is so dangerous that you will not even be able to doubt it. And you will easily lose your money.

In the field of cyber crime, now the method of fraud is being adopted through video calls on WhatsApp or any other social platform. The special thing is that in front of you on video call is not an unknown person but your known face, relative, friend, relative or someone very close. He asks for money by stating his need and you trust him after seeing the video call and send the money. This is where you become a victim of fraud.

Many cases of fraud worth lakhs reported in Delhi
Delhi Police Cyber Crime Advisor Kislay Choudhary says that in the last one month, many cases of fraud through WhatsApp video calls have come to light in Delhi. In one case, a woman received a video call from a new number on WhatsApp. Her husband’s picture and voice were on the call. He asked his wife to immediately transfer Rs 2 lakh, which the woman did.

There was a case of Rs 85 thousand, in which the victim of cyber fraud received a video call with the face of a person very close to him and got Rs 85 thousand transferred. There have been many more such cases. The special thing is that due to video calling, people not only trust easily but also transfer huge amounts of money.

How is this web of fraud spreading?
Kislay explains that a cyber criminal or swindler first collects complete information about any person from social media. After finding out those close to him, reads the comments and behavior on the post. After that, after collecting the face and voice of someone, through artificial intelligence, he collects the number of the person with whom he wants to cheat and calls him on WhatsApp.

Why can’t people recognize?
Choudhary says that it is very easy for a hacker or a thug to take any picture and use AI to show expressions and words from that face. In the last few days, many such videos have gone viral on social media in which people who are no longer in this world have been shown singing songs with facial expressions. Through this artificial intelligence technology, hackers can easily use people’s faces and voices in video calls.

This is the only way to avoid fraud
Kislay says that it is always important to keep in mind that the fraudster always calls from a new number. Even if you are getting a video call with the face of your husband, son, daughter, relative or others, the number will be new. In such a situation, if the video call from someone whose number is saved with you is coming from a new number, then be careful and never give when asked for money. Always keep one thing in mind that if any such video call is coming, then always disconnect the call and first make a normal call on that number and get information, only then think about transferring money.

This is the stronghold of cyber thugs in India
A recent report shows that most cyber crimes in India are being committed not from Jamtara or Mewat but from Bharatpur in Rajasthan. The latest report of ‘The Future Crime Research Foundation’ (FCRF), an organization associated with IIT Kanpur, shows that 18 percent of the cases are being committed from Bharatpur, while Mathura in UP is at the second place.
