There is also an influencer. With modern borrowings, the feature film “History of Franz” brings Christine Nöstlinger’s children’s book series of the same name to the big screen.

Hamburg – The Austrian author Christine Nöstlinger died four years ago, but the heroes of her children’s books remain alive. One of them is now even becoming a screen hero: The film is called “Stories from Franz” after the elementary school student and the book series of the same name by Christine Nöstlinger, in which she tells new readers about the problems that a newcomer to life is confronted with.
A ten-year-old makes his film debut
Christine Nöstlinger wrote the funny and subtle stories about Franz Förstl from Hasengasse between 1984 and 2011. In his cinema adaptation, Johannes Schmid (“Stupid Cap!”, “Winter’s Daughter”) made a feature film out of it that summarizes several episodes: Franz, who with with his cute curls and squeaky voice is not one of the cool ones at school, doesn’t want to be teased any more – and, as always, knows how to help himself in his own way. The 10-step program of an influencer seems to him a solution, be less nice, do your thing, is now the motto of Franz, who also puts friendships at risk.
Franz is played by ten-year-old Jossi Jantschitsch, who is making his film debut here. Nöstlinger’s Viennese jokes will also be there when the film “Tales of Franz” hits the cinemas on April 14th. Director Johannes Schmid, who made his directorial debut with the multi-award-winning children’s film “Stupid Hat!”, was awarded the German Film Prize for “Best Children’s Film” for his second feature film “Winter’s Daughter”.
