It doesn’t hide the fact that Frans deserves a richly invested sandwich. We should know that he lives “big enough” with 1800 square meters of living space, for which he now pays a sloppy 1800 euros in energy costs. “I think he will continue to go over 2k,” says Frans. He calls his monthly energy bill “bizarre.” “Actually, I’m sorry to say, I want to stop Vattenfall’s heart attack and be self-sufficient.”
The folk singer has therefore already started making it more sustainable and now has 85 solar panels. “Don’t be alarmed, I consume 23,000 cubic meters of electricity a year.” The average is 1200 kWh per year, says presenter Leonie ter Braak between her nose and lips. And of course those solar panels aren’t free either. “The government participates in this, because the VAT is refunded. I pay something from 54,000 to 58,000 euros for this.”
The other table guests and presenter Leonie ter Braak are stunned by the quantities mentioned by Frans. “But man, what are you doing? Sitting in bubble bath all day or something?” comes from the mouth of Catherine Keyl, who is said to be “very thrifty”, who herself consumes an average of 1200 kWh per year. Yes, the bubble bath is still on, Frans confirms: “Not now, anyway, but my in-laws still live with us in the house.”
The TV star also likes to point out how ridiculously spacious Frans lives in her eyes. “It’s about my street! Damn,” she says of her 1,800 square feet of hers. “I won’t say any more,” concludes the cross-eyed Frans. “Maybe I’ll come and stay with you, you’ve got plenty of room,” Catherine invites herself.

Sports clubs are also sweating a lot with current energy prices. John Williams, among others, intervenes and science journalist Diederik Jekel explains the energy crisis:
