Frans shows his sensitive side during the interview. When William shows a photo of Frans with his son, the singer gets a lump in his throat. “I like these kind of pictures a lot. (…) Maybe it’s also because of getting older that I’m more emotional with these kinds of things. But this makes you realize that time flies so fast.”
Even when a photo with his father appears, the singer visibly does his best to keep it dry. “I find it difficult to talk about my father. (…) We had a very special bond. We were actually one,” says Frans.

His father died of cardiac arrest at the age of 70. The singer has never been able to give this a place. “I walked into the hospital in Roosendaal, where my father was admitted, and at that moment my father was resuscitated. You do not process that so quickly. You are not just going to give it a place.”
At the end of the conversation, it is precisely the photo with his father that Frans receives as a present. “I give every shoot a special photo and I couldn’t ignore that with you. I hope you will give it a nice place”, William begins. Frans bursts into tears. “Sorry,” says the folk singer. “No, very well. I think it’s nice to see that it makes you so emotional. That’s what a photo does,” William responds. “Some photos just stay with you”, Frans concludes.
