What started in December with a huge YouTube hit for Frans Bauer and Sieneke, is now being continued in a major tour for the occasional duo. Two months ago, the two scored very well online with the surprising duet Vaya Con Dios. That tasted like more and now more is coming. A tour and new music, Frans and Sieneke said in the radio program Wakker!
Frans Bauer and Sieneke have known each other for about thirteen years. They both competed for a place in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2010. Sieneke won and ended up on stage in Oslo with ‘I am in love (sha-la-lie)’.
The folk singer continued to follow her after that. “Three years ago she performed as a guest artist during my tour and that was so well received by my fans that our first duet followed,” says Frans. “It then took on a life of its own.”
Theater tour
On March 15, the tour ‘n Evening with You by Frans and Sieneke starts in Theater Markant in Uden. “It has become a tradition to start my tours there and it is a very nice place,” he says. Sieneke is really looking forward to it. “It is very special to perform fifty times throughout the Netherlands and Belgium together for an entire evening. The guest appearances where I did two songs, always tasted like more.”
Until December, Frans and Sieneke will visit practically all major theatres. “It’s exciting, we are of course solo artists and such a big duet tour has never been done,” says the singer. “We have also been training for months to keep it up and rehearsing. I have also lost twelve kilos and still have seven to go,” says Bauer laughing.
For their first concert series after the corona crisis, the two are going big. “There is a whole orchestra and a huge video screen. It is a small family of 35 to 40 people with whom we go on an adventure for nine months,” says Frans. “We’ll probably do this once in our careers, so we’ll do it right.”

New duets
After the success of Go with God Frans and Sieneke entered the studio and recorded more brand new duets. “They will be released on Spotify on March 13 and there are real gems in between,” says Sieneke. “I really like beautiful life songs that have their own story.”
So she doesn’t have a real favourite. “Take Go with God, we still get so many reactions to that because people feel their own sadness about it. When you do that live and you see people get emotional, that also affects you as an artist.” Frans is looking forward to a few specific duets. “I’m really looking forward to the disco songs. That is so out of our comfort zone and nobody expects it from us. I also really took dance lessons for it.”
New album
Frans’ last album was released in 2019. “Corona has messed everything up, so it took a little longer, but that made it special and personal. Also because I’m working with producer Emile Hartkamp again for the first time in twelve years.” The release date is scheduled for April 12. “There are also a few solo songs from me and Sieneke coming up. 2023 is a year in which we unwrap quite a few musical gifts.”
