Frankie Montás says he will pitch for the Yankees this season

EL NUEVO DIARIO, NEW YORK.- New York Yankees right-hander Francelis “Frankie” Montás underwent arthroscopic surgery on February 21 in Los Angeles, a procedure performed by Dr. Neal ElAtrache to clean the labrum area.

He emphasizes Montás is “sure” that he will pitch at the Major League level this year. He could start shooting as early as the week of May 7.

Recurring inflammation in his pitching shoulder plagued Montas last season with the A’s and Yankees. He confirmed the same pitcher was “not 100%” when New York acquired him from Oakland on Aug. 1.

“I was trying to pitch with everything and stuff. I was traded to a new team and I wanted to show what I could do,” Montás said. “Things didn’t turn out the way I expected, but I’m here to do my rehab and show what I can really do when I’m healthy.”
