The Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) welcomes the planned 9-euro ticket for public transport. This is what the current plans for annual and monthly passes look like.
One is open to the project, “because the campaign strengthens our efforts to win back passengers after the pandemic and we support all measures that make bus and train travel easier and more attractive,” said RMV Managing Director Knut Ringat (62) on Friday in Frankfurt.
He assumes that the federal government will bear “all costs associated with the campaign,” emphasized Ringat. This included compensating for loss of income and costs for additional trips as well as organizational expenses.
The campaign should also not burden the financial situation of the transport companies and transport associations, which are already suffering from rising energy costs and lower income due to the corona.

“We also assume that the around one million regular customers in the RMV alone will be given appropriate consideration in the special campaign.” According to its own statements, the RMV is one of the largest German transport associations and transports around 2.5 million passengers per working day.

The traffic light coalition in the federal government of SPD, FDP and Greens announced on Thursday that a public transport ticket for 9 euros per month would be introduced for 90 days.
Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (51, FDP) emphasized after consultations with the federal and state transport ministers on Friday that the discounted tickets should also apply to subscriptions – i.e. annual or monthly tickets. The costs for subscriptions would then not be debited or reimbursed, Wissing made clear.
According to reports, the start date for the discounted ticket was May 1st or June 1st.
