This council is made up of 13 people from the city administration and the various sectors of the night-time economy, the city announced.

As a modern metropolis, the city aims to make cultural activities and services “available until late in the evening and to create quality of life even after 10 p.m.,” said Economic Affairs Minister Stephanie Wüst (FDP).

One goal is to revitalize and consolidate the club scene and establish the “24-hour city” offering, with cultural activities available around the clock.

In recent years, this has thinned out, particularly in the nightlife sector – for example, several clubs have had to close, which has also resulted in a shortage of event space.

Instead of a single night mayor, the Main metropolis has now opted for a night council. Each of the 13 members will be responsible for an area, including: gastronomy, clubs, hotels, music and concerts, sports and youth.

“Our city should be more lively and attractive in the evenings,” said Marc Kautz, deputy managing director of the hotel and catering association DEHOGA, about his goals in the night council.

And hotel director Rahwa Bumba emphasised: “I want our hotel guests to have something to do in the city even after 10 p.m.” This is the only way Frankfurt will remain attractive to international guests.

There are no concrete plans yet, but the focus will be on projects and campaigns, said Eduard Singer, head of the night council’s office. Citizens will also be involved in public meetings and hearings on certain topics.

The city announced that the supplementary council has 68,000 euros from the budget at its disposal for 2024.
