Frankfurt Galaxy of the ELF franchise initiates the “Galaxy Flag Football” youth project

The Frankfurt Galaxy will be even more involved in youth work in the coming season: On April 27, 2023, the first flag football training session will start at the Louise von Rotschild School in Frankfurt, one of the participating schools in the Frankfurt Galaxy youth project.

The weekly training takes place as part of a school working group, so it is not a compulsory part of the lesson for the students. In order to create an incentive for the participating schools, Frankfurt Galaxy is hosting the first “Galaxy Bowl” before the home game on June 24th against the Paris Musketeers. Six schools from the Rhine-Main region will compete against each other in flag football to secure the title. Project leader of the Galaxy Flag Football school program is Daniel “DJ” Josiah (photo), active player of the Frankfurt Galaxy.

“The program is a central component of the Galaxy in Frankfurt and is aimed particularly at children and young people as a contact- and injury-free variant of American football. It is another example of Galaxy’s ongoing commitment to promoting sport in Germany,” says Eric Reutemann, Managing Director of Frankfurt Galaxy.

Daniel Josiah founded the American Football Federation Ghana (AFFG) back in 2017 during a voluntary social project in Ghana. The founding member still accompanies the project in Africa today. The experience he has been able to gain so far helps him to implement the Frankfurt Galaxy youth project.
