Telekom Baskets Bonn remains the leader in the basketball Bundesliga. Meanwhile, Frankfurt managed a surprise win against Ludwigsburg. The BBL on Saturday.
The Telekom Baskets Bonn won 99:83 (51:36) at Hakro Merlins Crailsheim on Saturday and thus achieved their ninth victory in the tenth game of the season.
With 32:12 in the first quarter, the visitors led the way to victory from the start, six Bonn players scored in double figures. On the other hand, the Merlins lost their first game after parting ways with their previous head coach Sebastian Gleim. Assistant coach Nikola Markovic has taken Gleim’s place for the time being.
Bayern are on the heels of Bonn
With one more defeat than Bonn, third-placed FC Bayern Munich are hot on the heels of leaders and second-placed Alba Berlin. Munich beat Basketball Löwen Braunschweig at home with 97:78 (53:43). Bayern went ahead in a strong attacking second quarter, and the home side controlled the end section.
Frankfurt bottom despite surprise success
Frankfurt’s Fraport Skyliners achieved an upset victory of 92:80 (49:43) against giants MHP Ludwigsburg. After five defeats in a row, the Hessians celebrated their second win of the season, but remain bottom of the table. Frankfurt’s new signing Marcus Lewis scored his 23 points in the first three quarters. At times, the hosts were ahead with 24 points.
On Saturday, BG Göttingen also beat Brose Bamberg 95:79 (50:41). In an 11-0 run in the final quarter, Harper Kamp scored all of Göttingen’s points. The Würzburg Baskets won 79:77 (40:47) away against EWE Baskets Oldenburg and thus avenged themselves for the cup defeat in mid-October. Weißenfels’ Syntainics MBC won the home game with 92:85 (47:42) against MLP Academics Heidelberg.
