Eintracht got off to a promising start. Kostic found Evan Ndicka with a corner (3′), Djibril Sow staged Timothy Chandler (4′). On the other side, however, the first goal came after Chandler had not been able to clear: Wimmer shot in free in front of the goal.

Wimmer unpacks the Rabona flank
Again Ndicka after a Kostic corner was blocked by an opponent (7th). Daichi Kamada tested Bielefeld goalkeeper Stefan Ortega with a long-range shot (12′). Jesper Lindström offered the SGE’s first huge chance, and after an amazing pass from Sow’s own half, he shot in front of Ortega (16′). A little calm had returned before Wimmer unpacked the Rabona after the Eintracht opportunities in a cross and Schöpf only had to hold out his chest a few meters from the goal.

Frankfurt was not impressed by the two-goal deficit. Lindström sent goalscorer Rafael Borre into a good position (32′). Again Ndicka didn’t hit the ball properly after a Kostic corner (33′). From a short distance, Ortega parried a powerful low shot from Borre (35th) – the best chance for the Hessians in the first round.
Many Eintracht chances – no goal
After the restart, Chandler couldn’t process a Kostic cross (46′). Lindström found his master from very close range in Ortega (56th). Borre headed over the goal after a Kostic corner kick (56′). Cedric Brunner defended strongly after a Kamada cross in the direction of Borre (64th). Kostic shot to the side netting (66th). Florian Krüger missed the preliminary decision against Trapp from a few meters (67th). Wimmer chipped the ball over the bar after letting two opponents get out (72′). In injury time, Ortega still had the upper hand against Borre, who appeared completely free in front of the goal (90+3).

Due to the defeat, Frankfurt, who play at VfB Stuttgart next Saturday at 3:30 p.m., remain bottom of the table for the time being – but 1. FC Köln and 1. FSV Mainz 05 could overtake Eintracht on Saturday. Arminia leaves relegation place 16 at least until the further comparisons this weekend and climbs to 14th place ahead of VfL Wolfsburg and FC Augsburg.

Player of the Match: Patrick Wimmer
Wimmer made it 1-0, and caused everyone in the stadium to be amazed with his assist at 2-0 – most likely only a question of the short-term future until the 20-year-old Austrian celebrates his debut for the senior national team.
