Honsak makes “lilies” dream
The again strong Vice World Champion Kolo Muani (6th/90th), Rafael Borre (44th) and Daichi Kamada (62nd) shot the team of coach Oliver Glasner into the next round – and ended in a duel at eye level in a heated atmosphere Lilies hit series. For Darmstadt it was the first defeat after 20 games, Mathias Honsak (29th/31st) briefly let the guests dream of the surprise when he gave Darmstadt the lead.
In the second cup game on Tuesday, “football god” Nils Petersen grabbed the megaphone in front of the away block after the last-minute win, and the SC Freiburg fans were already singing loudly about Berlin: With another late win, SC Freiburg has its Bundesliga frustration in the DFB -Pokal behind and is only two steps away from reaching the final again. Last year’s finalist won 2-0 (0-0) in the round of 16 at second division SV Sandhausen with a lot of effort.
Both teams are therefore potential opponents of defending champions RB Leipzig in the quarter-finals. Other possible opponents are Union Berlin, FC Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart. Dortmund vs Bochum and Nuremberg vs Düsseldorf will play each other on Wednesday.
