A 41-year-old was found dead in an apartment in the west of Frankfurt on Tuesday after an attack on a police patrol. “We assume that the fatal shot was taken by the police,” said a police spokeswoman. The exact circumstances have yet to be clarified. When police officers from a special task force (SEK) then searched the apartment, the attacker was found lifeless there. Another danger to the population can be ruled out. It is not yet known whether there was a dangerous situation in the apartment, a dispute escalated or what the background to the emergency call was. It also remains to be clarified whether the 41-year-old had a live weapon with him, a blank gun or a dummy.

Since the crime scene was close to the S-Bahn line and the Frankfurt-Griesheim train station, the train station was also closed during the police operation. The area was cordoned off over a large area. Heavily armed police officers and emergency vehicles stood not only in the cordoned off street, but also in a nearby green area with a cordoned off playground.
In the afternoon, the Frankfurt police announced on Twitter that the blockage in the area of operation was gradually being lifted.
