Turner broke the record for most shows in 24 hours, although Crywank had previously managed one other show in that time.
Between 4th and 5th May, Frank Turner traveled across England, to play a total of 15 gigs in 15 cities within 24 hours. The aim was to break the Guinness World Record and not only to promote his new album UNDEFATED, but also to support independent music sources. While the British native is celebrated after successfully completing his mission, Crywank feels neglected. The indie folk band spoke out via
Crywank feels unseen
The idea for the highest challenge came from the charity Music Venus Trust (MVT for short), which works to protect and defend independent music venues. To participate, MVT posted the instructions online in advance, which they shared over and over again Frank Turner He wished him luck on his 24-hour tour.
One part of the Crywank duo responded to this very posting via X with the explanation: “Oh, my concerts don’t count. “I should have gotten a big corporate sponsor and charged my fans for a twenty minute show, oh well.” This was referring to the Turner concerts, which were supported by the taxi app Freenow.
In a previous post on Thursday (May 2nd), Crywank announced that they wanted to break the world record with 16 shows in 24 hours.
Neither Turner nor MVT have yet responded to Crywank’s X-Rant.
Here’s what the conditions for the world record looked like
To set the world record, there were clear rules beforehand. Concert venues were not allowed to be repeated, there were always at least 25 paying spectators present and the concerts were not allowed to be shorter than 15 minutes. The venue had to be still in place with suitable amplifiers, microphones and a proper stage. MVT also set a certain level of quality as a basic requirement for the equipment and the ride.
Turner shared a before and after photo of herself on Instagram. After finishing the concert series, he explained that he had already played 24 shows in 24 hours for his music video for “The Road” in 2009. However, these were all in the greater London area.
