Frank Mason put out a boss match during the first day of the championship, Saturday, against Chalon-sur-Saône. He looks back on his time spent in the United States during the preseason and his objectives for this new exercise before the trip to Roanne, scheduled for Saturday.
Jessica Fiscal – Today at 07:00
We felt you were in great shape on Saturday, during the first championship match. However, you had trained very little with the collective. How did you manage this period in the United States?
“My body is following well and mentally I really feel 100%. However, I have had the chance to participate well in training since the resumption with SLUC (August 7) and to work on certain points in defense with my new teammates. This helped me a lot before finally returning to the United States, to be with my wife, for the arrival of our little girl. But that didn’t stop me from working very hard every day. It’s my job, I’m a professional, I couldn’t afford to come back and not be ready. »
You are indeed a professional, but leaving your wife and newborn so early to return to France must not have been that easy…
“It was honestly very hard. But mentally, it also pushes me to take on a new challenge. And I want to give the best, precisely for them. It’s hard to leave them, but here, I have a job to do and I want to do it as best as I can, with my team, here in France. »
Did you have any doubts about your return to France after this period?
“I had no doubts about my ability. I know how I prepared, I am ready physically and mentally for this season. I knew the circumstances of my return to the United States during this period and the best I could do was to talk as best I could and that is what I did. I was focused on myself and my season. »
Especially since there are three descents at the end of this exercise. How do you see this new season?
“Last year it was two, this year three… So, each match has to be taken seriously and above all we have to win. And honestly, personally, that’s what I’m mainly focused on. I want to win every time I enter the field and it is also with this type of mentality that our team will be built. »
You are traveling to Roanne on Saturday, how do you view this meeting?
“We watched their first match and it’s a team that is doing really well. Today, for my part, I have more benchmarks and I’m playing alongside great players… I’m excited… Finally… We’re excited to get this second victory. »
