The man who shot ten people on the New York subway last April has been sentenced to life in prison.
Frank James randomly shot passengers on a subway car during rush hour, wounding ten people. At least twelve others were injured in the chaos that followed. Then he fled. He was arrested a day later after a manhunt.
Repentance
During the hearing, 64-year-old James pleaded guilty and showed remorse. “I alone am responsible for this attack and no one else,” he said. He added that the attack was not against “any race or sexual orientation.”
He further criticized mental health care in the US, saying the system was failing people of color, like himself.
Before his action, the man had posted dozens of messages on social media in which he was angry about racism in the US and railed against the mayor of New York.
