Frank Gore to sign one-day contract with 49ers before retiring – NFL

“We’re still trying to figure out when I’ll tie my one-day contract and retire,” said Frank Gore. “I told Jed York I always wanted to be a Niner.”

Gore spent ten years of his career in San Francisco. The 38-year-old professional footballer is the most successful rusher of all time for the 49ers. Gore is the only running back in San Francisco history to rush for 11,000 yards in his career.

After his stint with the San Francisco 49ers (2005-2014), Gore played with the Colts for three years, surpassing 1,000 yards in 2016 and rushing for 900 yards each season. He ended his stint with the Bills, Dolphins and Jets on one-year contracts. He last played for New York in 2020.

Frank Gore wants to work for the San Francisco 49ers after his career

Gore ran for a total of 16,000 rushing yards in his career. That puts him third in NFL history behind Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton. He also had 81 rushing touchdowns in his 16 NFL seasons, and though he never led the league in rushing, he did make it to five Pro Bowls with San Francisco.

In the meantime, Gore had already made plans for after football. He fought former NBA player Deron Williams in a boxing match earlier that year, which he lost. Gore has now stated that he wants to stay in the NFL and work in management for the 49ers.

“We’ll sit down and speak to my agent. I love spotting and evaluating talent and I love the ball,” Gore said. “I know my way around as a football player and I know what it takes to be a football player.”
