The Côtes-d’Or department is one of the 38 new territories affected by the curfew measures: “I take note of it” declared François Rebsamen, mayor (PS) of Dijon, guest of franceinfo on Thursday 22 October. However, he regrets the lack of gradation in these restrictions and would like to “that we allow time for the measures to apply so that we can measure their effectiveness.”

From Saturday 24 October, as in much of the country, the metropolis of Dijon as well as the entire Côtes-d’Or department, will be subject to curfew. Even if François Rebsamen, former minister of labor and mayor of Dijon, promises to apply these new measures, he remains perplexed on the reasons for their entry into force: “In the Dijon metropolis, the closure of bars at 10 p.m. was decided two weeks ago. We do not yet know whether this measure has had an impact today.”

On average, it takes three to four weeks to judge the impact of the measures that have been taken.

The mayor of Dijon notes that the government’s first doctrine “test, trace, isolate” did not work : “Obviously it does not work. Why? We do not know, but suddenly, we come again to very restrictive measures, not only for public freedoms, but also for the economy”. However, François Rebsamen does not criticize government decisions head on: “Everyone is sailing on sight. I don’t want to throw stones at them, but let’s just say that we have the feeling that the decisions taken have not been implemented”, he regrets.
