“Nugget” companies yes, logistics no. This is in substance the message hammered on Wednesday, December 15, François Rebsamen, mayor of Dijon and president of Dijon Métropole, on the occasion of a Facebook live. Asked by Internet users about the economic situation of the capital of the Dukes of Burgundy, the elected representative was at least clear on the economic strategy he intends to pursue. “We have to manage the settlements as intelligently as possible, that is to say without consuming agricultural land. We have little land, we must keep them for the nuggets. This is why I say no to logistics establishments, ”said François Rebsamen. “Large companies like Peugeot for example, which want to set up, must move elsewhere,” continued the councilor.

The Amazon case

So what about the establishment of the new Amazon delivery agency scheduled for Longvic in 2022? For the mayor, the case is different. Notably because the e-commerce giant is going to rehabilitate a 5,000 m2 wasteland, abandoned since the departure of the wind turbine mast manufacturer FrancEole. Responding to criticism from opponents of the American giant, including downtown merchants, François Rebsamen claims to have set his conditions. “At the Mayors’ Show, I went to see the general manager of Amazon France and I asked him frankly the question of the payment of taxes in France, as well as those of the conditions of employment. He replied that Amazon pays 350 million euros to the French State and told me the conditions of employment and staff salaries, “explained François Rebsamen, adding that the platform would” generate a little competition. The traders must accept it ”.

Last June, the unemployment rate in the city of Dijon fell to 6%, a “historically low” level, according to the mayor.
