The marriage between François and Wilfred seems like a fairy tale. Until François indicates that he does not feel any butterflies. Wilfred therefore closes the door, because he is in love. Now François joins Aran at the table without Wilfred. He is there with a good feeling. “I think we closed it really well and did a really good job all the way through.”
François does regret that Wilfred is not there. “I wanted to do the entire process together, but I respect his choice in this. I respect that he prefers to stay out of the picture now.” The two are still in contact with each other. “Very little, but there is contact. We don’t have a fight. Nothing bad happened.”

François finds it difficult to divorce Wilfred, because that does something to him. “You are partner in crime from the first minute you see each other. It was quite a bit. Only afterwards do you think about it and then you think: you don’t get certain feelings.”
During a night out, François notices that Wilfred is not the one. “It’s a friend you’re out with, that’s what it felt like.” Still, François does not feel guilty that Wilfred’s heart was ‘damaged’ by the experiment. “Everything he has experienced in the past, of course, comes very close again. He also said that it was not because of me or because something happened between us. But of course his heart is damaged, because he also stepped into this experiment in the hope of: this is him, now it’s going to happen.”
After the two have visited a museum in Arnhem, they leave for Maastricht, where François lives. In the car they have a good conversation in which François expresses for the first time that the feeling is not there. “That touched him in the sense that he left early the next day.” François does not know what to do at that moment. “What can I do well and what am I not doing well?” Expert Patrick van Veen therefore decides to talk to Wilfred, as can also be seen in Married At First Sight.
François has now found love – three months after the last recordings of the program. “Sometimes things happen at unexpected moments. And something happened. I got to know someone pretty soon after the program. Our eyes met and it was immediately: bam!” François sees his new sweetheart Joël after a long day of work at the gas station. “We had a quick chat then.” François beams when he talks about him. “We’ve decided that the dating phase is over.” François has informed Wilfred about his new love.
