Franco-American scientific cooperation: Frédérique Vidal traveling to the USA

In view of the meeting of the Franco-American Committee on Science and Technology (Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology), which will be held in Washington DC, on December 6 and 7, in the presence of Eric Lander, scientific advisor President Biden, Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, is traveling to the United States from December 3 to 7. She was welcomed this Friday morning in New York by Jérémie Robert, Consul General of France in New York.

It is accompanied byAntoine Petit, Chairman and CEO of the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS); of Bruno Sportisse, Chairman and CEO of the National Research Institute for Digital Sciences and Technologies (INRIA); of Gilles Bloch, Chairman and CEO of the National Institute for Health and Medical Research (INSERM); of Sylvie Retailleau, president of the University of Paris-Saclay; and of Jeanick Brisswalter, president of the Université Côte d’Azur, that the minister is making a five-day trip to the United States.

The Minister will travel to New York, Washington and Boston to discuss with the American and French scientific communities and the presidents of several major universities in order to share the common ambitions of the two countries in higher education, research and innovation. In New York, greeted upon arrival at the airport by Jeremiah Robert, Consul General of France in New York, the Minister has a busy schedule: visit of the New York City Economic Development Corporation, as well as laboratories run by French scientists: Emmanuelle Passegué (Columbia University Stem Cell Initiative), Jean-Laurent Casanova (The Rockefeller University), Olivier Element (Precision Medicine, Weill Cornell). She will also have lunch with the French scientific community of New York at the Villa Albertine directed by Gaëtan Bruel. As of Saturday, Madame Vidal will take charge of the American capital. She will end her American visit with the city of Boston before returning to her ministry.

With more than 21,000 joint publications, several cooperation agreements between French research institutions and American universities and research agencies, and numerous exchange programs for researchers, doctoral students and other students from laboratories in both countries, the United States. Unis are the first scientific partner of both France and the European Union.
