Franciscus Vlietland scales down corona care and stops preventive testing

Schiedam – The Franciscus Gasthuis & Vlietland hospital is scaling down corona care and stopping preventive testing of patients.

At the moment there are still eight proven corona patients in the IC of the Franciscus. In the clinic there are 13 proven patients in Gasthuis and six proven patients in Vlietland. This brings us to a total of 27 corona infected patients. This morning there were 10 suspicions in the clinic.

‘When the corona care is scaled down, the IC beds have now been removed from the cohort and the nursing takes place in isolation boxes. The OR capacity is further scaled up on a weekly basis. The flow of regular patients is increasing daily. Clinical nursing of corona patients takes place in isolation rooms and in small cohort wards, by isolating a number of beds from the rest of the regular beds,” a hospital statement said.

It has been decided to stop the preventive testing of patients upon admission to the clinic. The reason for this is the decrease in the number of infections in the country and the limited number of infections that are still detected by these preventive tests.

Even though many people have been vaccinated in the meantime, it is important to continue to follow the measures in the hospital. Keep the 1,5 meters away, wear a mouth / nose mask, sneeze in the elbow, regularly disinfect your hands and stay home with corona-related complaints.
