Francisco Lindor, shortstop for the New York Mets, was surprised to not find himself among the finalists for the Gold Glove in the National League, after his good season.
“I thought I had a good defensive year, but I guess there are other players who had a better defensive year than me. At the end of the day, I’m trying to win a World Series,” Lindor said in a press conference during the Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
As far as the old circuit is concerned, the candidates at shortstop are Dansby Swanson, Ezequiel Tovar and Masyn Winn. Lindor did not appear on the list and confessed that he dreamed of getting the third Gold Glove of his career.

Carlos Mendoza, Mets strategist, gave his opinion on the matter when he did not see Lindor’s name among the finalists for the award among shortstops. “If you ask him, he’s not here to win individual awards. He is here to win everything; that is, the World Series. He is an elite defender. I was surprised that I wasn’t even among the finalists”he told FOX Sports.
The Puerto Rican played 151 games at shortstop this season in 1,311.2 innings and committed 12 errors with 358 assists, with a fielding percentage of .979.
Lindor finished the regular season on the injured list, after some discomfort he suffered in his back, and the Mets decided to bring up Luisangel Acuña to replace him in the last two weeks of the regular season.
