Jakarta (ANTARA) – Ducati Lenovo Team Manager Luigi Dall’Igna believes that Francesco Bagnaia’s strategy to achieve victory in the opening series of the 2024 MotoGP at the Lusail International Circuit, Qatar, last weekend, was because he dared to take big risks in the main race.
Bagnaia, who was doubted by the public following his less than optimal performance in the practice sessions, qualifying round and Sprint, was able to prove that he was still worthy of carrying the number 1 number on his motorbike this year.
“Pecco started the race well, with him taking several risks in the opening lap, and executing them correctly,” said Dall’Igna, quoted from Ducati’s official statement, Tuesday.
“His way of organizing the race was perfect, and he did everything he had to do to keep his distance from his rivals, while remaining focused and maintaining the condition of his bike’s tyres. “His racing skills are perfect,” he added.

Not only giving praise to the defending champion, Dall’Igna also appreciated the performance of another racer, Enea Bastianini, who finished in the top five at the Qatar MotoGP.
“Enea also ran a great race with a top five finish. “I’m sure he will also give us a lot of satisfaction because he works very well with his crew,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bagnaia revealed that the change in strategy was made when he and the team had a warm-up session before the main race started.
The Italian racer said that he focused a lot on strong braking techniques to reduce the use of the rear of the motorbike, which in turn was able to widen the distance to the riders behind him.

Bagnaia himself was able to provide a margin of more than 1 second over his two tough competitors, Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM) and Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac) at the Qatar MotoGP yesterday.
“When I saw another rider approaching, I tried to move away a little more and everything went according to plan. “Even on this occasion, the team has done an extraordinary job,” said Bagnaia.
Meanwhile, Bastianini admitted that he was still not satisfied with his finish in fifth position, and was determined to improve his performance in the second series of MotoGP 2024 which will take place at the Algarve International Circuit, Portugal, on 21-23 February.
“Our expectations are higher, but we will try to do better in the next race. “Once we arrive in Portimao, we will have a clearer picture of how to take a step forward,” said the racer nicknamed “The Beast”.
