Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Ducati racer Francesco Bagnaia admitted that he was amazed by the number of motorbikes milling about when he first came to Jakarta, Indonesia.
This was stated by Bagnaia when he attended the Ducati event in Jakarta ahead of the Mandalika MotoGP. Bagnaia was not alone because he was accompanied by his teammate, Enea Bastianini.
“The last time there was a MotoGP in Indonesia was 25 years ago. So, I can feel how happy the people here are with our presence. After the championship parade in Jakarta, I also saw lots of fans who spent a moment with us,” said Bagnaia as quoted by Antara.
“I saw lots of motorbikes on the streets of Jakarta at that time, far more than other cities. I thought that was really cool,” he added.
Bagnaia was also impressed by the great passion of the Indonesian people for the world of motorbike racing. The 2022 MotoGP world champion also feels very loved in Indonesia.
“I really like the atmosphere and passion of the people here for motorbike racing. I have gained more than 200 thousand new followers on Instagram since I first came to Indonesia. It’s extraordinary to know that MotoGP is really liked by Indonesian people,” said Bagnaia .
This support from motorbike racing fans in Indonesia will be additional energy for Bagnaia at the Mandalika MotoGP. Moreover, he is currently competing fiercely in the hunt for the 2023 MotoGP world title with fellow Ducati racer, Jorge Martin.
Bagnaia is still at the top of the standings with a collection of 319 points. Martin trailed in second place with only three points ahead of the race at the Mandalika Circuit.
