For several days, the hashtag #JeanMichelTrogneux has been spreading on Twitter. Now she is planning a lawsuit.
The case has been covered in several major media, such as the BBC, The Guardian and the French major newspaper Le Monde.
Spread on social media
The rumors started when the right-wing magazine “Fait et Documents” published an article in September claiming that they had been investigating President Macron for three years, writes Sky News.
That is when the theory of the first lady should have emerged. The journal claims that several experts support the conspiracy theory.
Rumors of the 68-year-old first lady have since been spread by social media accounts against her husband, President Macron.
Among them are those who belong far to the right in politics, vaccine opponents and people from the QAnon conspiracy movement.
Warns against false Ødegaard rumors
This is not the first time such rumors have been spread about the spouses of presidents. Former United States First Lady Michelle Obama has also been accused of having a husband named Michael Lavaughn Robinson.
New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has also reported such rumors about her gender, writes The Local.
