After the events in Sainte-Soline (Deux-Sèvres) last March, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin requested the dissolution of the group Les Uprisings of the Earth. This Thursday, November 9, the Council of State has just canceled this request. A decision which gives legitimacy to the collective, according to MEP Benoît Biteau.
The highest court in France annuls the decree dissolving the environmentalist collective Les Soulèvements de la Terre, this Thursday, November 9. A request which had been assigned by the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin after the demonstrations in Sainte-Soline (Deux-Sèvres) in March 2023.
On son site webthe state Council estimated “that no provocation of violence against people can be attributed to the Earth Uprisings. The relaying, with a certain complacency, of images of clashes between demonstrators and the police, in particular against the construction of water reservoirs in Sainte-Soline, does not constitute a claim, a valorization or a justification of such actions“.
A European MP from Royan, Benoît Biteau is strongly committed to the group Les Soulèvements de la Terre. He considers that “rehabilitates all its activists who are committed to a common interest, that of preserving their future on the issues of climate change, the collapse of biodiversity and of the deterioration of the health system rating“.
