France’s agricultural exports fell by 9% due to the Russian embargo – 2024-08-25 04:55:17

/ world today news/ The president of the Association of Mayors in France, François Barouin, today expressed concern about the losses in the European agricultural sector due to the ban on the import of agricultural products on the Russian market and insisted on resuming the dialogue with Russia, TASS reported.

According to Baruen, the impact of the Russian embargo has greatly altered the distribution of European agricultural exports. “The figures are too eloquent – it is about 4-5 billion euros,” noted the politician.

In an interview with Paris-based BFM TV, Barouin stressed that France, as the leading “exporter of agricultural products in Europe”, is suffering particularly heavy losses. According to him, only a small part of the production was diverted to other markets, and the decrease in exports was 9%.

Francois Barouin believes that European countries should restore the dialogue with Russia. “We were among the first to call for it,” recalled the president of the association, which unites 36,000 French towns.
