France has reduced the interval between the second and third coronavirus vaccinations from five to four months, French Prime Minister Jean Castex was quoted as saying by BTA. The measure comes into force in January.

As part of efforts to combat the spread of the coronavirus, authorities have banned all major public celebrations and pyrotechnic performances on New Year’s Eve.

Authorities also recommend that vaccinated people test themselves before reuniting with relatives for family celebrations for Christmas and New Year.

France is experiencing a fifth wave of coronavirus infection and expects the Omicron option to be dominant early next year.

The French Prime Minister Castex announced that from the New Year the health pass in the country will be transformed into a vaccination pass. That is, vaccinated people will have access to it, but not those who test negative for the coronavirus, AFP reported.

Currently, health passes are required in cafes, restaurants, shopping malls, cultural sites, museums.

The new measure will be part of a bill to be presented to parliament in early January. It will also state the will to tighten the conditions for inspection and the sanctions for false health omissions.

Due to the deteriorating situation with the coronavirus infection, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he would not travel to Mali as he had planned. There he was to meet the interim president and celebrate Christmas with the French military.
