The emergence of a national air carrier should provide Ukrainians with affordable and convenient flights between regions.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the director of the French consulting company Aerogestion, Marc Roche, during which the parties discussed the optimal models for creating a national air carrier of Ukraine, informed on Tuesday, August 17, the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state.
Thus, the Ukrainian leader noted that the domestic air transportation market in Ukraine does not meet all the strategic needs of the state, therefore, it was decided to create a national air carrier.
According to Zelensky, it will appear this year, the French government has allocated a grant to ensure the work of the consultant.
“Its (air carrier – ed.) Appearance should provide citizens with affordable and convenient flights between Ukrainian regions, contribute to the decentralization of international air transportation and give an impetus to the development of the tourist potential of our country,” the president said.
In turn, Mark Roche noted that the influence of the coronavirus pandemic had affected the Ukrainian airline market, but there are opportunities to create a state airline.
“I really think that air transport is not the most relevant for Ukraine, for people who, in a crisis, need to be able to travel and lead a normal life,” he said.
