In France, where a strict quarantine regime with movement controls has been in place since the beginning of November, the government has decided to start lifting the restrictions, provided that the number of new infections per day in the country does not exceed 5,000, reports the British broadcaster BBC.
In a country with a population of 67 million, the restrictions on the second quarantine in 2020 are severe. Residents are allowed to leave their place of residence only to go to work, buy basic necessities, receive medical care or play sports for one hour a day.
Anyone leaving the place of residence must bring a written confirmation from the police to justify their departure from home.
Gathering is prohibited. There are closed outlets where basic necessities, as well as universities, gyms, catering establishments and bars, are not sold, but schools and children’s day care centers are open.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Tuesday, November 24, that the government will begin lifting the restrictions this weekend, but that quarantine will be replaced by a night curfew. Most of the quarantine restrictions the government plans to lift from December 15, for the Christmas and New Year period. Support funding is also provided for companies in the second quarantine.
At the same time, the intention to lift the restrictions will be linked to the infection rate, ie the restrictions will be lifted if the number of new infections registered per day does not exceed 5,000.
“We must do everything we can to avoid the third [COVID-19 saslimstības] wave, every effort must be made to avoid a third quarantine, “
spoke on television urged by Macron.
A pandemic in France has claimed 49,232 lives this year, according to the BBC and the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
