The Prime Minister of France, Jean Castex, announced in an interview with Le Parisien that a fourth dose of the covid vaccine is open to the elderly over 80 years of age and advanced a subsidy of 15 cents per liter of fuel from April due to its increase due to the war in Ukraine.
“From now on, we open the fourth dose to those over 80 years of age who have received their booster dose more than three months ago and who suffer a progressive loss of immunity,” the prime minister said.
This announcement comes as the epidemic has picked up again, with some 73,000 cases in the last 24 hours, compared to 53,000 a week ago. In France, almost 80% of the population has a complete schedule of the vaccine.
Likewise, the price of a liter of fuel, which in some cases has exceeded two euros, will be partially subsidized by 15 centimeters for all types of fuel, Castex pointed out, who quantified this measure in a state expense of 2,000 million euros.
“For a full deposit with 60 euros, 9 can be saved,” explained the head of government. He also requested an effort from energy distributors and oil companies, suggesting that they lower the final price by 5 centimeters per liter.
