France wants to freeze gas prices until the end of the year

In France, on Thursday, July 7, a bill on purchasing power was submitted to the Council of Ministers. As part of it, it is planned to freeze gas prices until the end of the year.

Thus, the government intends to keep the tariff plan introduced in autumn. It limits electricity price growth to 4% and freezes gas prices at October 2021 levels. This decision will be valid until the end of this year.

According to the article, within the framework of the bill, it is planned to revise the size of the old-age pension, disability benefits, raise the salaries of civil servants, and the government plans to pay emergency food assistance, which will be 100 euros per family plus 50 euros per child, etc.

According to the publication, in total, France plans to spend about 25 billion euros to protect the population from rising consumer prices.

The bill will be submitted to the National Assembly from July 18, where it will become clear whether the French deputies will support it or not.
